Having owned our FL2 since 2009, (it was 12 months old with 23,000 miles on the clock). It is now seven years old, 123,000 miles on the clock and due a service. I am wondering if I should let it go.

It isn't unreliable, it has broken only once with a failed throttle body, but I am wondering, is it time to chop it in? It needs four new tyres and it will be getting a cam belt on this service. The cost isn't an issue, it just that if I spend money on it, I will keep it.

I know I don't want another FL2, been there done that. Not a fan of the new Disco Sport. Missus is not a fan of the Evoke.

I would like a Disco4 but with the interior of a Range Rover Sport.

The replacement needs to be able to tow convincingly.

It sounds like you want to keep it. I kept my cars for 17 & 18 years because I liked them & overall they were fairly good. I got rid of them in the end because they had got to the point of runnings costs due to repairs. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Yeah, the devil you know does play a big part in this.

The car is mechanically tip top, the body is showing signs of living in the country and parking in a multi-story during the day. Its at the point where I don't mind if it gets the odd scratch.

Yep, service and tyres it is. See how I feel next year.

LR isn't the only brand you know. I love my FL, but the way the company is going I too may be looking elsewhere next time. But for the moment I'm sticking with the FL.

My wife and I have been looking at what to get next. Basically the FL2 is too big for the two of us (retired) but we want 4 wheel drive capability for occasional use. I was away over the last week or two driving around the south of England and was surprised how many Skoda Yetis are about. Does anyone have any views on them? Incidentally only saw one Disco Sport in my travels. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Is the Yeti really sufficiently smaller than the FL2 to matter? I'd rather have the extra size and the FL2's capability.

There's seldom more than two people in my FL2 (and much of the time it's just me) but I still wouldn't want something smaller. That said, I don't particularly want anything bigger either, as anything bigger is getting too big for some of the Dales lanes and for city centre car parks with their ever-shrinking parking bays!

But then for me in the Pennines the FL's capability on snow and ice is paramount, and I do periodically fill the thing up with all kinds of things from building materials to garden waste! I think it's going to be around for some time yet.

Discovery Sport launched in 2014.

I do have a soft spot for a 4x4 Yeti, but I don't think I could own/drive one.

Just had a quick look the XC90, won't be getting one of those...
