FL2 i6 Cooling fan stopped working

Hi all, this is my first post here! I couldn't find any similar threads so have started this one.

Recently my engine temp warning light came on, I pulled over popped the bonnet and the cooling fan was not running, I restarted the car and the fan still didn't start. I managed to get it back to the garage and for a completely different reason, disconnected the battery. When I reconnected the battery and started the engine, the fan started running.

Is this a sign that the fan is on its last legs (I've only done 45k)?? Or may disconnecting the battery cleared some fault code/ reset a sensor?

No, it means that the software in the fan module needs updating.
By this, LR understands changing the module. Laughing

Use the Search facility a little more and you'll find the answers...
For example punch in there "fans stopped" or "engine overheats" and you'll see...
For example this: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic9159.html
