United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Caspian Blue

Surely they must be bringing something out to replace the defender as a farm utility vehicle, unless they are planning to move away from that market all together , surely not though , here in pembs some farmers are using the dacia duster! Cheap, rugged , tows well, although nowhere near 3.5t & can cross a muddy field ...

Just noticed on the LR approved 2nd hand list that there are 177 DS available. Perhaps they ain't flying out of the showrooms. To date I have only seen 1 on the road. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Ukcarbroker is offering big discounts on MY16 for September delivery with ingenium engine and I ordered mine before I saw the extra discount Big Cry

This doesn't bode well for future values if they're discounting this heavy before launched Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

In Australia! - Nissan Dualis 5+2 has been a flop and it's far cheaper so don't see why LR thinks that going to be a winner!
Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi are all about to release mid range 4x4 7 seaters on top of already selling "hot"
Isuzu, Holden (isuzu rebadge) Nissan etc models. And I know it's negative but the DS is very unattractive from the rear! Let alone placing it against a X3, Q3 or even the old XC60.
I'm afraid, in Australia at least which is suited for DS, there is "hot" competition and frankly the DS is not a strong offer by LR rather a "me too". MY15

The DS vehicles available on the used stock search will mostly be demonstrator stock, these will be offloaded prior to ingenium demo stock hitting the dealers.
Any of this stock that hangs around will drop in value and may represent God value if someone wants a car for a longer term, the sticker prices will be artificially high at this time to keep the brand price up.
Not sure the DS for me, I don't like the interior as compared to the Evoque which is very nice inside, LR's way of differentiating the brands perhaps?

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

Not sure if JLR are having a push on these as staff cars, but I have noticed a significant amount of DS to'ing and fro'ing around here this last couple of weeks.....a lot of the 64 plate Freelanders will have come to the end of their cycle, and appear to have been replaced with all sorts of DS's.....my favourite so far is the Firenze Red with Black Pack...looks superb.

As per Taz' comment above....I don't think it's for me either, but will review that again once the Ingenium hits it later on. They don't appear to have had any recent disasters with it over at Browns Lane so far, and the XE order banks are filling up nicely. Foraging near Gaydon....

The "Ingenium" engine looks good on paper - roller bearing camshafts, electronic water pump etc but it's this level of complexity driven by efficiency which troubles me alittle. Considering this that even the difference between Gen IV Haldex (FL2) and Gen V (DS) was driven by manufacturers wanting a less complex unit from Haldex it seems a bit bipolar!!!
In one area they seem to be simplifying and others more complex! Will be interesting.
Interior was big turn off for me along with its design but I also planned to buy the Evoque years back and decided that wasn't for me either when I went to look at one. Then sitting in the DS sealed it, thank god I jumped at the last build MY15 FL2 which I plan on keeping.
Mind you the MY16 Evoque is a step in the right direction, for me at least. Seems a bit more masculine. There's just too many women driving them here who just looked like they came from the hair salon and on their way to have some face fillers and botox done, not that I wouldn't benefit from a little "work"!!! The Evoque may look good inside but the centre consoul silver trim marks very easily many complaints from owners, probably the reason why the DS doesn't have it. Also the Evoques dash creaks really badly, not exactly worthy of the Range Rover badge.

I wouldn't buy another of either car again, and if this is the sign of things to come the DS will be my last. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I regret to say I agree with you J77 and overall the reason for me leaping at the last MY15 FL2.
I hope we are both wrong!
Fingers crossed! MY15
