2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Interesting as my VIN is within that range. 88k (miles) with no issues thus far. I have a warranty so doesn't concern me, time will tell......

When you talk about the transfer box, you mean the haldex box and not the gearbox. Am I right ?

Did you tow anything with your freelander ?

OK. Good for your RichP. Did you buy it from new or was it a second hand ?

Transfer box is at the front, Haldex is joined to the rear diff.

It's long gone now, so don't think I've any details of the Vin anymore. Yes I did tow with it, only 1500kgs so well under spec, but buy the time the Diff Beraings failed I had towed about 1500 miles at most. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

My 2007 freelander hasn't had a single fault with the diff bearing and mines clocked 97,000 miles.
I do get a occasional jolt from the haldex though when pulling away.

we have a 60 reg vin ending 212632 which did have a tow bar fitted when I bought it. this has had the low level diff repair plus a rear wheel bearing and also the front transfer box (not haldex)

the 11 reg one vin ending 245795 also had a tow bar. problems with this have been hesitation plus a gearbox problem where it lost 5th gear requiring a rebuild. So far no diff problem at 60k miles.

If you are a second hand buyer completely ignore this comment! I have had three FL2 within this VIN range and haven't had problems with any of them. Haldex issues can occur in any model year and at any mileage. Just read the postings on this forum.

As far as I know, no one with a VIN number after 257090 has reported a problem with his differentiel on this forum.

If someone repared his differentiel or haldex an have his VIN after 257090 please let us know. You may help us to see clearer.

Thank you for your feedback.

So if your VIN number is 255233, it is exactly inside the VIN range reporting this issue by Land Rover's technical bulletin (for info : 000212 - 257090).

Can you please tell me if you often drive in sand with your free in morocco ? Did you tow anything with it?

For your information, while searching in Topix Land Rover, I found a LR technical bulletin SSM71198 confirming my first posts about LR improving the differential on the freelander 2 / LR2 after VIN ending by 257090.

I hope this will help to understand better our subject.
