so after weeks of deliberation I have decided to part from FL2 ownership and LR ownership in general.

Now im driving my car 70 miles a day commuting plus any personal mileage, whilst the fuel costs are reasonable I want to cut costs more. (strong suspicion of failing rear diff after forking out for new DMF etc) I need to get my drive resurfaced and its going to cost a lot more than expected so need to save a shed load.

On Friday I will be saying goodbye to the Freely and moving across into a 14 plate Insignia 2.0 CDTi. The £30 road tax, cheaper insurance and 'claimed' 75mpg (even worst case case urban is 52mpg) have proved too much of a lure.

Thanks for all the hints, tips advice and banter and I will pop back in from time to time to see what the latest is.

As a result I will have some stuff for sale which I will post in the for sale/wanted section subject to mods approval. (LR roof bars, LR cargo barrier, LR dog cage, LR floor mats, armrest, black side vents, LR black wheel centre caps. Boot cover)

What's the cargo barrier, something like the dog guard ?

I'm looking for something that means I can fully load the rear for holidays, floor to roof lining full with all the crap we take.

The cargo barrier (as LR call it) is the full height black metal guard shown on the LR website. Hooks into the rear seat locking bars and then is held firmly in place once you put the seats back up. You can load the boot from floor to roof safely with it.

Totally understand why you'd leave. Considered it myself. Decided to stay with the FL2 for the time being so may be interested in your dog crate.

the dog cage is the genuine LR one, so you would have to the LR guard as well for it to work.

Neither the guard or the cage have all the fixings as the woman I bought it from had left them bolted into her old FL2. It makes no difference to the guard at all, but the dog cage door frame needs to be fixed to the right hand lashing eye next to the little storage recess. I drilled a hole in the plastic just above the lashing eye and put a rivnut in for the thumb screw to fix it.

Sounds an expensive set-up for the whole hog then. I don't have a dog so wouldn't be wanting a cage, the kids are now house trained.
I think I'm just up the road from you too, NG17 up the road.

Going to wait until the car goes later today then try and get them in the for sale/wanted section once Ive checked out previous prices.

The dog cage splits the boot about 70/30 (with the 30 being the enclosed size with the cage door on) but you can use the centre piece as a stand alone and divide the boot 50/50 if you wanted.

Pictures are on the LR accessories website along with the inflated prices.

First weekend of Insignia ownership and so far very happy. Sad to see the FL2 go on Friday but the benefits will ease that hopefully.

The car is definitely pretty quick, especially in the mid range. Not as comfy a ride as the FL2 obviously but town driving and crawling in traffic returned 47mpg average and this morning on the way to work up the A1 the instant was hovering around 68-88mpg with cruise control on.

There are one hell of a lot of toys to get set up and get used to as well. Very Happy
