Agree with the above, and looking at its design its not the most 'beefy' transmission lock, with just a small pawl into small teeth on a sprocket. So apply handbrake first before moving into park unless on the level or you will find it troublesome at times to come out of park.

Agree - auto's move an inch or two in 'park' unless the handbrake is applied - as I found out once in a Merc S class when I parked about 2 inches from a metal post - bump! Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014 |

Thanks for the replies, yep i find using the handbrake helps it. Was unsure of buying an automatic but i have had it 7 months now and found it brilliant on its own and towing. Fuel consumption is a bit higher than the manual version but i am more than happy to compromise. |

Seem to notice it more on the freelander 2 because it lerches like a spring when you let off the brake

Remember it also has to take up any slack in the transmission. Other Land Rovers with transmission brake you get the same effect on a manual even applying the handbrake! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
