cracked windscreen

no sign of a stone chip, anywhere near, warranty claim or insurance

who has had any joy with the guys at LRCS for a claim of this nature

Just went out to the car and started the engine and heard a crack, whilst stationary, so nothing hit it Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Judging by last week's Watchdog, whichever route you go, try and avoid having it done by AutoGlass...

im with LRI, so it will be Nationwide not Autoglass

I think it could be caused by the heat, but then Im sure they will find a fly splat near it and say it must have been that, no claim allowed Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I'd try a warranty claim that way you should get an OEM replacement. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

A windscreen can crack when whats called a stress raiser is pressing on the glass, this can be a spot weld flare in the windscreen aperture that missed inspection before painting on the line, it bears against the glass until eventually over time it causes the crack. I heard of this cause happening several times.

Nick - I'm with Land Rover Insurance and you may have seen the thread on RRSport http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic40671.html Evil or Very Mad

It will be Autoglass and a nightmare. They argued that Pilkington is LR screen but doesn't have LR logo and I gave up because I was selling anyway Sad

Sorry I can't offer you false hope - take everything they say with a pinch of salt - I recommend everything in email or record every conversation Rolling Eyes

spoke with the dealer yesterday, who upon inspection and using what looked to be a highlighter marker pen, ran it along the crack and it showed a tiny rough patch which must have been the impact point, whenever that happened

either way, LRI contacted, Auto Windscreens, booked (as normal with the previous LRI Glass claims) and waiting on them letting me know when the OEM glass will be in

Luckily the FL2 doesn't have the pilkington opticool glass Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Had a replacement windscreen fitted a couple of months ago (BY AUTOGLASS ,Saltney)

Not a single problem, excellelnt service Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Windscreen was hit by large stone kicked up by lorry caused crack 4 inch long on impact.....!
they checked with my insurance company (lv) approval given straight away for Genuine landrover heated front screen, they called local landrover dealer pick up new screen from them 10 am next day arranged for me to call back at their facility the following day was there 2 .5 hrs fully fitted very professional.
(my uncle ran his own auto windscreen shop in dallas for 47 years so I have seen a few replaced over the years)
the techniques they used in Saltney were vastley improved fom what I had seen in my uncles shop.
Millimeter perfect, no leaks no problems at all EXCEPT cost £75 all in .
The only downside is my car insurance windscreen cover at renewal was now £140 ..!!! Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
compared to nearly £500 for screen alone from dealer plus fitting very resonable ( did insist on genuine Landrover part as car is still under warrenty for another 20 months .) Wales
