Mantecs - the next job.

Got a Mantec front plate and a tank guard to fit and just waiting on some instructions from Mantec in coming through.

Reason for needing instructions is not for what appears to be the more dificult tank guard, it's for the front plate.

I can work out the tank guard when under there, but when I took the tow eye cover off and offered up the front plate [apart from the spats] I don't know if I need to remove the plastic surround of the tow eye cover. Confused
Don't want to strip or damage bits unnecessarily so will await the instructions being posted from Mantec.

Will post up a few pics when I get around to fitting. Thumbs Up

I have fitted both these items and no great shakes. With regard the plastic cover around the front tow eye this needs to be removed to give easy access to the tow eye if required after fitting. Otherwise reduces the access with plastic cover still in situ. Following the Mantec guide / FITTING INSTRUCTIONS for my MY14 SD4 there was an anomaly, the handbrake cables did not interfere with fitting so I did not use the supplied brackets regarding these. Front skid plate takes 15 minutes, Tank guard, on my own, took 45minutes. Mine have been on the car for 6 months with no problems and has given me peace of mind when off road.

When I fitted my front guard:

Just remove the eye cover
Remove the bolts (4 I recall) holding the existing protection in.place.
( existing plate stays on the car)
Fit mantec skid plate over existing plate
Attach with the longer mantec bolts
I used some bricks to support the mantec whilst bolting in place
10 minutes ish

Thanks chaps Thumbs Up

So on the front plate it's just the small tow eye cover to remove & the outer frame stays in situ......?
And that would mean the top leading edge of that frame is covered by the plate ?

I will also have to remove the front spats as they fouled the plate when I offered it up for a look.

Mantec instructions not turned up in today's post. Rolling Eyes

Fitted the front plate a few months ago, but just got around to fitting the tank guard today.

Tank guard ... it's amazing when under there just how low slung and vulnerable the plastic fuel tank is Shocked

Look out for the fuel consumption....
At the amount of dirt will accumulate in that guard/"tray", for sure the consumption will go up !... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Had already thought of that Alex, but it does lower the centre of gravity and it means I can now chuck it through corners at warp speeds and as it also smooths out the airflow underneath, that'll add another 25mph to my top speed . Laughing

@ Stuart, thanks for the idea, but no thank you. Wink FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

I've currently taken my tank guard off - having been round the Bala 4x4 site I seem to have bent the plate slightly, so it now catches the exhaust under start/stop, so just need to straighten it... 2000 Xei 1.8 gone
