Tablet Mount

Hi,
After debating for the last few weeks on what to do with the cubby hole in the dashboard of my MY11 GS I though I'd go with some kind of sat nav. After reading about the fun and games people have had mounting behind the dash I though a better solution would be to mount in the cubby but nothing give me what I wanted.

Started looking at other options. What about a small tablet? Problem is again the fun and games mounting behind the cubby and I thought about mounts within the cubby. Even though about velcro until I came across the PPYPLE DASH-NT which seemed to be exactly what I was after:

Now to find a tablet with GPS and the best one value wise was the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (7.0). Snagged a refurb off eBay for £75 Very Happy

All arrived today and here is the finished look.

On the whole really please with It. I can tether to my iPhone if I need the internet or internet music Laughing

Hope this helps anyone else who has had the same dilemma as me.

How sturdy is it? Does it allow the tablet to bounce around much? I'm presently looking to fit a Freelander 7" tablet into the space from behind, but if this solid it may be a better alternative.

Interesting. I started to explore mounting an iPad Mini in that cubby space but stumbled at the mounting hurdle. How does your mount actually fix to the car?

Hi,
Not used it much as yet but I've tried putting a lot of weight on it and it seems fine.
It can take a 10" tablet so for a 7" is fine and it looks great mounted as the pictures show.

On one of the gripper arms is a slot for charging cables so a lightning cable should be fine.

The mount is a large sticky suction cup which has a lever on it when pressed in pulls on the suction cup giving extra grip.
It seems to be very stable so far.

Thanks. I guess if you were worried about the strength of the suction cup you could actually drill / stick it to the base of the cubby?

I'm sure that would work. Need to go on a good run with tablet attached. Just waiting on the case to arrive and then I'll give it a go but i'm sure it is strong enough.

I have it mounted to the top of the cubby so that when nothing is in the holder I can still put my iPhone under it Very Happy

That looks a fairly straight forward solution, minus visible cables.

However, what are your views on the air vents? Even with them pointing away I would be concerned if you had the heater on it would damage the tablet - they do not like overheating! You could of course turn them off, but worth asking. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎

It just avoids the vents but I never have it too hot anyway. With coming from the north of England I'm used to the cold Rolling with laughter
