Road Toad i understand your concerns especially as i used to tow the outfit with a RRS but i can assure you the outfit is actually more stable than i thought and the Fl2 Sd4 a very capable tow car do the maths if the van is running at it`s max tow limit = 90% and the 85% rule is actually only a recommendation, but i do not wish to instigate a dispute between forum members merely showing if are sensible and drive within the limits of the outfit it is achievable within the legal safety limits . each to his own

Sidetops I think you will be presently surprised how well your outfit will tow and hoe well the Freelander will cope with your van there will be no going back now

I've been towing my Bessacarr Cameo SL535 for the last 9 years now, no problems with the freelander but use to have a Nissan x-trail which was a bit under powdered for the job so I had it remaped, helped but I had to come back to Land Rover MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green MY57 SE Stornoway Grey. Gone Nissan X Trail Discovery V8 LPG Series II Land Rover |

SGB and Hinchy, its going to be quite a first outing as well, from near Brighton to Corfe Castle for 4 nights, then on to Marazion for 10, and then back towards home but stopping in the New Forest for 4 nights. The Freelander is awesome I love it, and can't wait to tow |

Thunderbolts Way (Australia) has a long steep section. My previous car was small & well maintained. Quite a few sections I could not get into third gear. By the time we got to the top the car was ok but the whole car was so hot. It was pushing it to its limit, would have stopped if it was any longer. Would have had no choice but to stop if the weather was hotter.
