United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

Ouch. I had my transfer box replaced under warranty a few months ago. Was a low whine/groan/rumble between 45-55mph. Was inspected and diagnosed as transfer box, about £2500 worth of parts and labour I believe.

Seems odd they said diff then transfer box. Apparently easy enough to distinguish what is making the noise. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because Iā€™m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though šŸ˜Ž

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

I had similar experience, diff noise requiring the diff job plus xfer box. Then a few weeks later the noise returned but this time it was a rear wheel bearing. Thankfully all under warranty, at 50k. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

United Kingdom

another update
collected repiared freelander from st nazaire SA LEMOIGNE dealership last night.

new transfer box....they had more tests done on it and got underneath to track down source of noise.

brand new box, as no recon boxes available (they usually fit recon boxes apparently as this is cheaper option, just my luck there are none of these about, altho maybe a brand new box will last??)

50% contribution from land rover france

not been a cheap trip, altho the quoteline direct breakdown insurance at £59 a year has proved excellent investment, they provide a hire car, recovery, taxis to and from and a hotel not that we needed that. Also they have been very helpful in discussions with garage conducted in french, at a technical level french is very much a foreign language, even for people like me who think they are fairly fluent!!!

I do hope I don't post on this topic again, for obvious reasons!!
