The man in the shop said 0.8maH, your charger is set to 800maH?

What exactly is the problem? Has the pack burnt out? Charging at 0.8amps for one hour should be OK. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

He said the max was 800mah

Is that not 0.8a on my charger?

1000ah so 800mah is it not 0.8

The charger that came with it say out is 12v 300mah and takes ages Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You are mixing up amps (current) and ampere hours (charge) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

With 0.8A for a 0.8A battery - so C/1 - can be said that's a fast charging method.
It's perfect normal that in this mode the pack to warm up towards end of charge.
The suggested thermal cut-off temperature is about 60 deg. Celsius for NiMH batteries.
The trick is to determine when that temperature is reached - the charger should have a temperature sensing element - and end the charging process.

The better way to look at it is how long does the battery last when driving the toy and the power of the motor. You wouldn't try to charge a 100AH battery by trying to shove 100 amps into it, same with a smaller battery so 300mA should be better, it's a chemical process so take it slow, rushing chemistry causes heat and bangs Whistle my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

You'll be surprised, but traction batteries are indeed charged with C/1, so yes, 100A for 100A battery.
No one has time to wait these days... Laughing
But, no doubt, a C/5 or (even C/10) charging current is much more OK from battery life and charging uniformity point of view.

Some of the cheaper cells don't fast charge very well , try hobby king for some more batteries . They have a uk store . Also , never leave unattended when charging or do it outside !

Going to have a look for a better car for him as this one, all be alright for a toy, could do with a bit more grip and off-road ability

I was sat at the table whilst it was charging, rebuilding my quadcopter after a little bit of soldering earlier that day Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Worked out what happened

My 2 month old charger was outputting too much for some reason

Fine on the LiPo batteries but went on to cook a NiMh or two even on a very low amp charge

Bought new charger all okay Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
