That's a real shame that is hope you get it back but may already be in pieces, scum like them plan the whole thing and have an outlet waiting.

Stick it on Landy watch... that said i think it may be gone.

I would not have a defender simpley because of the rate they are going missing...

Isn't it amazing that they stop making these things when there is an obvious market for them. I know the economics of the Defender are such that it is expensive to build but perhaps Tata could start making a European spec one in India or somewhere. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Production of the Defender is continuing overseas. They just won't be able to export them into Europe. Blame your friends in Brussels. Foraging near Gaydon....

Its about their value and probably what they are worth in bits as its a bit dodgy trying the sell the whole thing?
They dont make Mk1 Escorts either but there must be a market for those too as they keep getting nicked?

Update:
The vehicle has not been found, as suggested probably in bits by now. Tools from inside were found thrown from the vehicle in Bourne Lane (In Gloucestershire), direction towards Toadsmoor Road and Eastcombe / Bussage. (in case anyone on here lives in that area)

It was'nt worth much as it was pretty much on its last legs, but my dad has used this truck to build 100's of dry stone walls in the cotswolds. More a sentimental loss really.

I used to work for an insurance company who insured 14 Mercedes Unimogs used by the electricity board.
All 14 were locked in a compound and on CCTV until one day the cameras went down and the next morning all of the vehicles had gone, they used the on board Hiabs to pull up the main gates and all had driven off.
Suspect the thieves had something do do with the camera failure the day before?
They only found one of them later, it had been heading up to Scotland and broken down as it had a faulty fuel gauge and had run out of diesel and they couldnt get it going again.
None of the others were ever traced.
The next lot all had to have tracking devices fitted.

Another case was where a brand new 50 grand fork lift truck disappeared from a compound that was constantly monitored by CCTV and a Security Monitored Gate pass system in and out, that truck went one evening, never to be seen again and nothing was recorded on camera and or no one saw a thing.
Again the new one had to have a tracker fitted.

Seems the way to go, fit a tracker if youre worried about it.

I see in the press Julia Bradbury has just had her brand new 75 grand Range Rover nicked, now if there was ever a case for fitting a tracker this should have been one?

Trackers? If you live in Derbyshire they are a waste of time. All the police would do is give you a crime number for your insurance claim; they are so overloaded that they don't follow through standard criminal events.
.
For risk vehicles like the base Landrover you need to install your own anti theft device, maybe a solenoid stop tap in the diesel line that only you know how to operate from a hidden switch.
.
Have we any reports of Freelander 2's being stolen??are we at risk?
.
Kind regards from Fred.
.
PS I have personal documented experience of our local Police inability to act to proove my comments above.

There used to be a device you could fit in the brake line that held the pressure on the brakes when it was set so you couldnt get the brakes to release and thus cant move the vehicle, but that still wont stop someone coming along with a crane like the clampers use and lifting it away, the only way is to concrete your wheels in the ground, if someone wants your car they will go to all means to get, you can just hopefully slow them down a little in the hope someone sees or hears them before theyve finished.

Or do as 007 did with his Lotus make it blow up when they open the door or rig up a canister of CS to go off when they get in it.
