Auto Dipping Main Beam

I thought I had got most FL2 technical things sussed until yesterday when I got a surprise Shocked . I had a dark early morning drive with the headlights on full beam and parked without changing the position of the light switch which is always in the Auto position (in Scandinavia the headlights are on all the time). When I should drive home later in daylight I forgot to change the light switch to the dipped position, but noticed that the blue full beam dashboard light was not illuminated. When I drove into the (dark) garage the headlights full beam came on automatically with the blue dashboard indicator at the same time Shocked Thumbs Up Shocked .

So the full beam only illuminates only when it is dark, regardless of if the full beam switch is in the on position. However it is possible to use the flash function anytime. I have found no mention of this function in the (English version) handbook and wonder if this is normal for all FL2’s or just European countries that demand daylight driving with illuminated headlights.

How does the daytime full beam function in other countries for example in the UK Question 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

United Kingdom

Mine has caught me out a few times

If i have the stork in the On Position and the auto lights come on say whilst driving through a tunnel the bloke in front gets blinded

So in the UK i presume due to our lights not been on all the time (unless your Avtur Smile ) the FL2 will go to the default auto lights on when its dark enough and if the High beams are left/knocked on the High Beams come on too Confused

From what your saying AndyC the auto lights controls the Full Beams instead of the normal driving lights, if you leave them in the On position same as here. (but your main lights are on all the time) Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
