For those needing to know the metallic colour on late model Freelander 2 Grill surrounds is Santorini Black, not Barolo Black!
Sorry my mistake! Had Barolo Black on my head until Panel Shop pointed out to me other day!  MY15

I bought new ones as I didn't know how the final product would be - DOH they were excellent!
They're not expensive and I can always change over if need be.
To remove open tailgate which exposes the four plastic retainers.


You'll need something flat like a plastic spatula to get underneath and then use pliers. Getting them out destroys them so I purchaed new ones which will give as new final result.


D-Pillar really just peels off with some 3m tape holding it to the trailing edge of the rear quarter window and 3 lugs which hold on the back of the glass window.
Easy!



You can drive around without! No water can get in. Will just look strange until you get them back.
I'd be interested in seeing the vinyl final result as I believe you can't beat a good paint finish

Has anybody got a pair of standard D pillar trims gathering dust? I want a spare pair to paint Santorini Black.

Can anybody reccomend whether they look better in gloss black or body colour?

I would say body colour but its a personal choice anything will be better thans the grey/black matt finish

In my case I wanted the wrap around glass look so I went for a non-metallic black - Gloss Black, Narvik Black to be exact and is what LR paint their grills (exception FL2) door handles etc.
If your windows aren't tinted then possibly go for your body colour interestingly here Santorini Black which is metallic.
If you have facelift taillights the black continues up from lights. I'd still go Narvik Black
