Looking for some side steps - I like the look of them and my 4 year old struggles to get in and out of the car without dragging the rubber door seals.

I have seen these http://www.lrparts.net/freelander-2-genuine-style-side-steps.html which are a fraction of the price of LR ones.

Has anyone bought and fitted these? I see it says they use the standard fitting points - does that mean I don't need to cut or drill any holes? Would prefer not to do that

Also, side tubes - are they simply tubes - no step of any form?

Im not sure on the fitting of the steps, LR or otherwise. However there are fitting guides for LR ones on the maint/mods thread I believe so you should be able to compare

The tubes are exactly that yes, they tend to sit further under the door sill so would be pretty ineffective as a step.

Might have been this one but I think the bolt holes etc are the same for step or tubes

LR Parts kindly sent me the fitting instructions. Yes, you do have to cut but to be fair it looks fairly straight forward. Out of interest when people are fitting stuff, do you use the quoted nut tightness - ie 20nm or whatever? Or do you just tighten? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
