Sadly I can foresse that JLR will want to copy this sort of nonsense as the company seem unable to resist bad ideas which competitors bring to market. Presumably focus groups get very excited about such garbage and spin doctors sell it as a "must have" to remain competitive.
I remember when Merc in their wisdom thought that a single windscreen wiper was the way to go. They put vast engineering effort into designing and bringing to market their single windscreen wiper. The arm was so heavily engineered (to reach out to the corners of the screen) that the whole car rocked when stationary if the wipers were on. A blatantly stupid solution to a non existant problem. Unfortunately Jag thought they had to be same as Merc so introduced a single wiper the XJ for some years. It actually worked moderately well and at least was much simpler than the ridiculous Merc kit. But it left large corners of the screen unwiped so in the rain one had to peer down to be able to see through the central wiped area.

Infotainment and connectivity are equally stupid concepts to bring to the driver's area. They seriously detract from the driver's ability to concentrate on car control. Heaven know what creative idiots will come up with by way of Gesture Control!

Good modern technological applications improve car control and safety - dangerous rubbish like this should be banned.

I always though the single wiper idea was to make lhd/rhd conversion easy.

I had a mk2 golf and VW didnt bother converting the wipers to rhd, the passenger had to watch traffic lights for me as I couldnt see them Rolling Eyes At work

Can I include airbags in the list of dangerous and unnecessary technology?

multi media has its distractions but probably better than balancing an atlas whilst changing a cd, or twirling a cassette round on a pencil. At work

Airbags are here to stay and complex smart airbags using camera's etc will become common over the next decade. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
