Two weeks in and awaiting AA recovery

Two weeks ago purchased my FL2 £18k on a 10 plate 35k on the clock garage had diff replaced before I collected and I'm now awaiting tow truck as the back end just locked up on the way to the shops I've only done about 600 miles since collecting it.
Not a happy bunny but love the car...

Sounds like the diff failed before and they didnt remove all the swarf during repairs and now some of it has got back into the gears??
Either that or your electric handbrake has given up the ghost and jammed itself on?
Was it a Land Rover dealer who did the repairs??

Not a LR dealer but just back from dropping it off back to the garage I have asked them to seek main LR advice on this and asked for an extended warranty...the hand break is not automatic but I did notice a slight whiring noise last night but didn't hear much this morning...then the lock up!!!
The place I had it from sells over 100 cars a week over there 3 dealerships so I'm going to play em big..

Silly question perhaps but how do you know it's the back that's locked up? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Who did the Diff Repair, there was a few members in the early days of Diff repairs who then suffered Haldex failure if the correct procedures for the Haldex were not followed by the book. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Pretty serious occurance all the same, imagine if it had locked up in the outside lane at 70mph??

its not unknown for someone to do a repair and then forget to put the oil back in or the wrong type of oil even.

I will be awaiting a response from the garage on Monday I was on the motorway on Friday cruising quite nicely at 70 ... It doesn't worth thinking about..it was deffo the back wheels locking up due to the flat spots on the rear tyres .. Will keep y'all informed of the outcome..

When you read about whats happened to everyone else who has had problems, its not the case originally, where it might have gone in for a whine, only once its been in for repair it seems then it all happens and it locks up or explodes, so its the folk doing the repair at fault, nothing to do with the actual product which is ok if assembled right??

Bit like the saying "in the beginning there was nothing, then it exploded"??

A friend in the trade once told me that it's never a good idea to buy a car from an independent that could have gone on a main dealer's forecourt. The logic being that if there is a problem with the car (unless a minor one) then the main dealer will move it on in the trade rather than mess about fixing it. My second FL2 was definitely in this category. I have seen cars of this vintage and mileage recently on LR dealers forecourts.

Incidentally I had a diff done a few thousand miles ago and they over filled it with oil so had a few spots on the driveway. They said that they are supposed to put 700 mls in but that since it comes in 1 litre bottles they often put more in and then let it drain out and perhaps they hadn't left it long enough. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
