England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame
2007 Sat Nav Updated - Eventually!

So been looking around the last 6 weeks or so for some cheaper way to update the original 2007 sat Nav discs that came with my Fl2 seen all the comments about dodgy discs, the numerous problems that might happen etc etc. took the plunge on Thursday and ordered from a company found on Google for the 2014 Disc 2 (UK) priced at under £35.00 my mate also bought the same for his Fl2 but from another company again on Google but this time under £20.00 all exc p&p, update here my mates were actually £24.95 not under £20.00 as previously said - apologies Bow down

We installed them today, min took nearly 2 hours to finally complete and it seems miles better, admittedly still not as good as my TomTom but a big improvement, even locally I'm not apparently driving through fields or woods anymore Laughing my mates took a little less time but still no problems, the feedback from both company's looks pretty impressive so might be worth a look.

I know it's early days and I sceptical about this so we'll see how things go.

I haven't included any website details here just in case but if you would like them please pm me. Norfolk Pikeman

From the sat nav secret menu if you enter the PIN 295660 and then press the Version button what does the DISK field say?

You don't have sufficient posts to use the PM facility yet and the use of 'dodgy' sat nav discs is not condoned on this site.

Hi all,

Just got a 2015 DVD B disk to update the original 2007 system. Had no trouble using the 2011/12 Europe disks. The system seems to have frozen with the Navigation Button just depressed.

Any ideas on the best way to recover from this?

Old disk back in? One option to reset I believe is by disconnecting the battery. But was wondering if there was another option. Does disconnecting the battery have any other issues? In the past I've been locked out of at least one car as the alarm system reset as well.

Thanks

No, just stick with the update and forget about the satnav for a while........on some the updates are quick and on others it seems to take forever. On the ones that take ages just drive as normal and within a day or two (which I'd equate to a few hours on driving time) it should come back to life but with the update running. This is far easier than sitting around trying to keep the ignition on and watching nothing happening.

Thanks. Thought I'd messed it up. Got a 5hr drive on Monday so that should sort it.

Only cost 24quid for what looked like a genuine update DVD so I didn't bother with the download burn DVD route. Might try it for the other Euro country disks.

If I took my I think it's 2010 DVDs out of the machine in the car to see if the file size is about the same would I have to go through the reinstalling procedure again if I put the same disk back in ?

Don't think so. The main issue seems to be that when the system reboots it displays a message something like 5-45mins and then takes in some cases considerably longer. The general advice I found was that when changing disks and reload/updates are found then depending on how much has to be updated or changed determines the time it takes but you have no indication of this time.

For me it took about an estimated 3hrs total of driving about over 3days doing several other things in the interim then kabam., system started working again.

No idea what you might have downloaded but if it's only 750kb then it's certainly neither satnav software or maps.
