Hi all,

I have scoured the MANY threads on here with the PDC issues but I think I have a new one!

When reverse is selected there is a 'click' from the passenger footwell (I'm assuming a relay of some sort) but no tone. The light on the button on the dash just 'blinks' around 5 times.

I have both front and rear sensors and was wondering if anyone else had this problem or had heard of it before?

Yes, i had it briefly. One of my rear sensors had come loose and had dropped partially back into the bumper. The system knew something wasnt right so did not activate. The flashing is to warn you the system is inoperative.

check all your sensors are clean and seated properly, if this still doesn't work you will have to check each sensor somehow to test its working. They are quite easy to reach and not that expensive to replace if you have to

Had this last year. Diagnostics showing 3 front sensors with faults. Turned out to be the connection to the front bumper harness. Required bumper removal. Fault not returned since connector cleaned/re-seated.

Any ideas if the circuit needs all of the sensors attached to work? I was just wondering if I could disconnect them all and then plug them in one by one until it stops working again, hopefully identifying any problem sensor.

I have a feeling it is a connection though as they all worked very briefly yesterday for the first time in months, but now not working again!

Well, up early off a night shift and then set about having a deeper look.

Front and rear bumpers off and all connections and sensors checked and cleaned. I noticed that one of the wires in the front harness had been exposed and looked a little corroded. Stripped it back and tidied it all up.

Bumpers back on and......the issue remains! lol!
At least it was sunny....

Does anyone know if these faults can be picked up on a diagnostic tool?

Well, I went ahead and bought a cheap fault code reader off eBay and it arrived this morning.
Plugged it in and off it went...no codes found. Now, either my car is spot on or the reader is not the best!

I had a thought that maybe it had to have reverse engaged to throw up a fault. Popped it into reverse and the sensor tone returned to normal. Hmmmm

Anyway, dogs went into the back and off I went to take them for a walk. As I was parking, the sensors were performing brilliantly.
Return to the car an hour later and the problem returns!

I have been playing about with it all afternoon and they seem to work and stop working at the drop of a hat....I officially give up!

Have had a problem with my parking sensors for over a year now. Whenever reverse is engaged, I get a single long tone and flashing light from the parking sensor button.

LR diagnostics showed a faulty right rear sensor - replaced with a brand new genuine part (twice) to no avail. Then replaced the entire rear parking sensor loom with no joy, and also replaced the whole parking sensor ECU in the boot.

Fault remains.

I HAVE officially given up.

PS> Cheap OBD reader won't get into the nitty gritty of faulty parking sensors - too model specific. You need a proper diagnostics tool.

If LR can't sort yours out, what chance have I got trying to sort it myself?! lol

I had a similar problem with rear parking sensors. I had a stainless steel bumper protector fitted on a witter tow bar the colder the weather the less the problem occurred but as weather has warned up a bit the sensors activated almost constantly with reverse selected , new loom and sensor seals replaced by dealer but after a coupe of days trying to sort problem they removed the bumper protector now problem solved

if you turn on the ignition, dont start the engine, select reverse or your front sensors via the button then if you go to each sensor in turn and listen, if its working you should hear faint clicking from it, no clicking then that sensor has a problem??
