Australia 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green
Painted D-Pillar Gloss Black

Got these back today and my first reaction was O. M. G.
Got to say that initially I wasn't keen on putting them on. Not because the finish is not good, it's amazing as you can see from the pics. I think it's because it's such a big difference to the standard Matt finish. They are starting to grow on me and I think I will put them on as I think I need to just familiarise myself first. The panel shop has asked me the come back when I've installed so they can check for any slight imperfections - very nice of them and shows what a class operation they are!
I'll attach a couple of pics installed once I pluck up the courage to put them on.
My main reason for doing this was that the climate in Australia is harsh on this type of finish and unless I constantly put protectant on them over time they will look rather shabby as all other FL2, RR & RRS eventually look. They get a rather washed out whitish effect.
I'm sure being painted now there will be some Maintanance but should be less bother than having to put protectant on which gets washed off after rain or car being washed.
What do you think????
Yes or No?

Thxs guys, that makes me feel a bit more confident Thumbs Up
I think it's just the difference between the matte and gloss which has thrown me! Thud
Haha Yes, Yes thanks to LRNUT for the inspiration although not body colour, I think this wouldn't work, especially on Aintree Green. It's a rather "alive" colour meaning it changes dramatically from day to evening. The black accents really work well with the Aintree Green during the day. At night it looks all black!
Ronp - no C-Pillars for me, i like this feature and it really works on the darker colour such as the Aintree Green. But I do agree black C-Pillars works well on lighter colours, especially the orange i've seen, looked amazing.
Possibly going to do the same to Front Styling Bar and as this is a bumper off job, unfortunately, possibly the grill spars but i'm going to wait to see how I feel. I don't want to go too far but i am partial to the black grill look and in Australia we didn't get the Dynamic so it would be quite unique. In fact not seen 1 other FL2 with a black grill here in Perth. MY15

If it was my car, I would get the bumper styling cover done in gloss black and the grill (the grill does not match nothing on your car) The gloss black grill will compliment the blacked out headlights reflectors MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

lol, I don't disagree with you!
I suppose the only thing that's holding me back is that there's no turning back from black grill spars as the grill and bumper are all one assembly!
And as the car is very new still I'm just taking it a step at a time.
Plus, I'd have to give the car to the body shop for a couple days and I'm not ready to do that yet! Rolling with laughter Whistle
I'm also tossing up whether to paint grill and styling bar Barolo Black as is the Grill Surround or Narvik Black which is OE. What do you think? MY15

Re: Painted D-Pillar Gloss Black

Just thought, looking at that first pic (below) it's going to give you a 'wraparound' glass look from the side through the rear windows.
Interested to see the shots (taking in that rear section) when pillars are finally fitted.

Land Rover grill surrounds are all gloss back. Barolo Black is a premium metallic colour with a hint of brown when the lights hits it. JLR would never used this colour as a standard grille surround as it will not go with every body colour in the range.

Lower spec models came with a dark atlas grille with a gloss black surround

Top spec models came with the light atlas grille with the gloss black surround

The Dynamic came with gloss black grille with a gloss black surround

I'm not sure if this is a country specific thing or a MY15 specifications but the grill suround is most definately Barolo Black. Check out the pics, I've also had this confirmed by the parts guy at LR.
Grill is Barolo Black and handle cover is Narvik Black Thumbs Up
I do remember an Australian promo coming out saying that there were two new grill surrounds, hi-line and low-line.
Hi-Line (as is mine) is Barolo Black and Low-Line is Brunel.
When the sun hits it there is almost a brownish about it with purple/green multi colour metallic flecks - Barolo Black! Whistle
I must say the Aintree Green Metalic and Barolo Black grill surround looks great in the sunlight, hence why I thought I may do grill spars and Front Styling Bar. Aintree Green has similar multi colour metallic fleck effect.
I'll see if I can get a better pic this arvo when sun hits as it's a bit cloudy here atm.

Grill surround Barolo Black Premium Metallic on left, door handle cover Narvik Black on right.

Need any more convincing LRNUT?? Rolling with laughter
In the sunlight you can clearly see the metallic effect! Whistle
