we are told by our Vet that Sparky is a Welsh Collie Question We know he came from a breeder and believe he was the runt of the litter, he ended up in Battersea dogs home at 6 months old because his owners didn't realize he would grow to the size he is Rolling Eyes

He's an amazing dog, super intelligent, laid back and as long as he goes out twice a day with his tennis ball he's happy.

bird feeder that sticks on the window + squirrel + terrier inside house = hours of fun

the dog and squirrel nose to nose through the glass, squirrel cooly enjoying the tease,, dog going wild Laughing

open the door and the dog nearly rolls in a ball in its haste to get the tree rat. tree rat just shimmies up the nearest tree. stopping to stare down at its 'nemesis'

soon it will be owl season where the little owls dive bomb the dog every evening as it chases round and round the garden

Bailey and Sophie are both rescue dogs - having been abandoned to take their chances by their previous owners. They got lucky...

Bailey was badly bred and has bad genes - suffering these days with arthritis and eczema - he is like a cuddly bear and loves to just be beside you, unless there is water about and then you cant get him out.
Sophie - much more of a working lab - never still - runs for miles - food obsessed - she was thin and starving when we got her and she still eats her food like its manna from heaven - 30sec clears her bowl. Jules

Just noticed that our Susie is uncomfortable tonight and keeps nibbling her tail so you know what that means - yep, anal gland emptying time. Yuk. I keep meaning to have a go myself but always chicken out. Off to the vets for her tomorrow then. Any 'self expressers' on here?

We get the signal from our ESS by extensive bum-skidding. My fiancee does the necessary. Best tip is when you are at the vet watch carefully how they do it, then simply repeat at home when necessary. Sounds obvious I know. Saved us a lot of time and vet bills over the last 5 years.

Just got this text from my wife: "Susie's much better now she has had her bum squeezed by the vet. A v tired pooch tho, I'll take her out this afternoon when she has recovered from the trauma Lol"

I put a rubber glove on last night after reading up how to do it and had a go but nothing came out. Didn't want to squeeze too hard in case I hurt her. Got a really funny look from Susie too. Laughing Perhaps I might go next time and watch how the vet does it - it'll save me £45 a time.
