"Hum" from the back of the car.

The car just started doing this on straight roads at about 40mph +. Having recently replaced the propshaft and rear diff I get very twitchy and sensitive to noises like this so I got the truck up on the lift for a close inspection of the wheels bearings. They were fine but I did find this:-

These stones were from just one back tyre and there was another handful in the other tyre (fairly new Michelen Latitude Cross - good tyres!). With the stones extracted silence returned. Just underlines the importance of checking tyres regularly - this amount of stones can also start to affect balance.

Odd that there were very few stones in the front tyres which have the same tread depth.

The front tyres twist on steering and eject the stones Thumbs Up

Certainly a handful there and very interesting about the noise

I had a "hum" from the rear and discovered a nail in the centre of the tyre, as it was fairly worn I replaced it rather than spend £20 on a repair. New tyre no noise. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Thats where having bald tyres is an advantage, they dont pick things up, I got a 6mm bolt stuck in my new rear tyre tread, didnt have that problem when there was no sign of any tread left. Rolling Eyes
