Like wise with the dealership taking it down the road for an mot. Mine went to the nearest tyre shop and was initially failed on tow bar wiring that the same dealership had fitted for me - a known issue with the test equipment but it didn't stop the dealer saying they would 'get it repaired for me' and have it re-tested.

I also got an advisory, rear seat belts not tested due to fitted child seat. My youngest child is now over 30 and the only thing fitted in my car is the dog guard between the front seat backs to stop Fido climbing through from the back seat.

Needless to say, I took them to task over both items and got the pass with no 'repairs'.

Indy since - pay full price for mot & they don't find fictitious problems to make up their money.

I have had all my MOTs done by my dealer. The first was done for 1/2 price under their allegiance scheme . Next year they tried to charge full price. I argued that seeing everything in the MOT was supposed to be checked in the service there should not be a charge. Their reply was they could not guarantee that an MOT tester would be available to do the service. My reply was that would be down to their bad organisation and the outcome was I have 1/2 price MOT's. Remember there are never problems, just new challenges

There's a maximum charge of £54.85 for car MOTs, but garages can charge less than that; and now they don't need to buy the pre-printed stationery, many seem to be charging less. www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/mot-test-fees

I remember receiving a letter from my local LR dealer extoling the benefits of them doing the MOT because they're a franchise dealer, so duly asked them to do it while the car was with them for some warranty work: they didn't do it because they don't have a MOT licence, and forgot to book it in with the place 'round the corner' they outsource them to. Ok so had the Mot done today at f1autocentres, service was lacking somewhat! Stood there on arival for 20 mins while the guy infront told them at what crap service he had Rolling Eyes i left the keys and logbook went home, they forgot to ring me when it was done so went back 2 hours later to find it had been done, then they tryed to charge me £18 something because they had adjusted the head lights, to which i pointed at a sign on there desk that states no work will be carried out with out contacting the owner before hand.... so i said im not paying it and they said ok and didnt ask again for the money. Once i left feeling abit miffed got home hoovered the thing then noticed they had forgoten to give me my log book back so had to return to get it Evil or Very Mad

I have 3 advisorys

3 Under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components. < Again whats that about, are they saying the belly pan is not ment to be there Laughing

Cill covers and undertray advisories - means they can't examine what's underneath them, so if there's a problem they can't see they're not responsible. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
