There have been a few posts here re fitting the Osram DRL kit - all (as far as I can see) make mention of connecting to the headlights so the DRL go off when headlights come on.

I thought that DRL should go off when sidelights come on? I have a kit here from AF which I hope to fit over the weekend. I want to get it right

Mine go off with the headlights.

Is that how you chose to wire it or as per the instructions? Haven't opened mine yet..

I'm sure it was the instructions.

This from the AA:

Daytime running lights must be bright enough that they can be seen clearly in daylight and as a result are too bright to be used at night time when they would cause dazzle. Daytime running lights should therefore go off automatically when headlights or sidelights are switched on.

I'm curious - why did you connect to the dipped beam when the instructions say to the sidelights?

I haven't found a definitive yet but I'm pretty sure DRL should go off (or at least dim) when any other lights are illuminated.

On OEM lamps DRL and Signature Strips (which are the sidelights) come on together, DRL goes off with dipped beam. So dipped beam connection is factory style. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Thanks. So just to confirm, when the signature strips (sidelights) and rear position lights are on, the DRL are still on?
