It admits that modern cars don't actually have a "throttle" (throttle body on an FL2 is not used for speed control). Control of the engine is through metering the fuel through the injectors (which are so fast that they can open several times during an individual cylinders' cycle) so I can't see the benefit in this except that it might change the linear response of the pedal such that it gives the illusion of a more responsive pedal. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Have you tried the throttle response when sand mode is selected?

Yes, I have tried the Sand mode and I like the response but can't drive on road in that setting. Clearly the throttle response can be sharpened hence the Pedal Box.

I am concerned that I may have the hesitation issue. It is going in for investigation later this month as well as for a vibration/ tingling I am experiencing when foot down between about 1700 and 2200 rpm.

I need to establish if I have a problem first and get that resolved before any plans to get a Pedal Box. But sticking it in Sand clearly shows what is possible in its current state. BMW X3 30d M Sport - Current (problem free)

I have tried one of the DT UK Pedal box's on mine and it really does sharpen things up.

It is doing the exact same thing as the standard fly by wire throttle, but intercepts the signal and in effect speed things up.

I have used a DTUK box on several diesel cars, they are excellent and do get rid of hesitation and turbo lag

A friend of mine owns DTUK, so I have had the opportunity to try different tuning systems on many different cars.

They are not like the box's of old where they were just a series of resistors in a box. They are all digital piggy back ECU's now which also work in conjunction with the turbo boost pressure sensor. Each box can hold multiple maps which the old 'tuning box's' couldn't do.

I am going to fit a DTUK tuning system to mine, once the warranty is up in November. Not bothering with a re-map.

All of the maps in the DTUK box's are completed on a rolling road, so are pretty much doing an identical job to re-maps.

I was never a fan in the past of tuning box's but the technology has moved on so much in just the past three years.
