Gordon Lamb Land Rover event invitation

Nice surprise through the post when I got home from work yesterday.
Even though I havent bought a car through them for 4 years I am still registered there and get the occasional sales brochure. This time it was an invite to a 'Drive and dine' event.
Basically, book a time with them on one of the specified days (one of which happens to be my birthday) and turn up at a country pub where they will have what appears to be a huge selection of their group 4x4 vehicles.
Nissan, Toyota, Skoda and of course Land Rover/Range Rover.

15 min test drive in any 4 of the vehicles on offer, and free food to boot.

Guess who is going to test drive a DS if he can ???? Whistle

I wouldnt normally go, Ive had invites to 'closed sale' events before at their showroom but not interested in them as I dont want to change cars just yet.

This is a chance to drive a few for free, get fed for free, and its on my birthday so why not Laughing

Just got back from the drive and dine we had a very nice sirlion steak and chips.I also drove the discovery sport I thought it was a good car and good to drive,if you want a spare tyre instead of the gunk it has to be ordered at the factory as it has to have the floor pan altered and the exhaust, you cannot fit a spare tyre afterwards I do think that it will sell very well .

If the ability to carry a spare has to be built into the vehicle I wonder how that will affect second hand values of cars which can't carry a spare? For a lot of people that would be a showstopper. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Back from the drive and dine event and had a thoroughlygood time as did my brother and son who both drive the new RRS and couldnt stop smiling.
we all agreed the evoque dynamic manual that we all drove was a cracking car to drive. Smooth, responsive, well specced, well built and generally wasthe car of choice for us.
we all also drove a DS SE tech manual, and the results are not so good.
the driving position is a let down for what is a fsir sized 4x4. Too low and not as cossetting as the evoque
the ride is quite wallowy
wind noise over the wing mirrirs even at just 50mph.
no spare
flimsy boot floor cover over the tyre mobility kit
but.....
we liked the action for raising and lowering the 6th/7th seats
size of boot
build quality
gadgets

however, for me personally, if i had 35k to spend on either an evoque or a discovery sport, then i would have to go for the evoque every time. The DS just didnt float.my boat.
