Scotland 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Lago Grey
New Volvo XC60 D4

picked up my XC60 at the weekend and said goodbye to my faithful FL2 after nearly six years.

we looked at the Disco sport as a replacement, but the Volvo won us over for various reasons.

will keep my eye on the forum and still contribute where I can.

regards

Iain

my brother on his 4th XC60, just picked up a 15 plate also

His only issue is the low rolling resistance tyres, absolutely Censored in snow, no grip whats so ever, so he changes them to standard type once the first set is worn Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I liked the high end interior when I looked at the XC60 more so than the FL2, and applaud how they've tilted the centre console towards the driver (I recently completed a masters in human-computer interaction so I've come to appreciate design that's clearly user centric Smile FL2 2011 SD4 XS in Galway Green

I like a Volvo, I did look at an XC60 it was a nice shade of blue, a sort of steel blue shade. I chose to stick with DS, though I am impressed with the new XC90.

I'm keen to see the new Discovery (5) or whatever it will be called. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Not at all, I don't have a problem with the view of the road ahead, I spend all day behind the wheel of coaches so even the command driving position can't beat that view, so it's never been a problem. I'm always keen to see new LR models, by the time the new Disco hits showrooms, it will be time to move the DS on.

Only thing I miss on the D4 is the SDV6 engine.

At the moment I'm enjoying the Discovery Sport, no regrets, nice to be in a manual. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

How highly do you rate the 190bhp manual? I've not looked at the technical specs but is the evoque 190 manual quicker than the DS? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

The Evoque loan car was SD4 manual and it felt like it had a bit more pace, but I think that's mainly down to its size and it being a bit more nimble. I did thrash it around some back roads in dynamic setting on TR and it was fun.

The manual gearbox on the DS, in itself is good, I keep forgetting that I have to lift the collar to get it into reverse unlike the Fl2/Evoque. There is a bit of go about it when pushed but I think the difference is minimal compared to my TD4 manual Fl2. Perhaps the 190 will come into its own when towing.

At the moment I've no problems recommending the manual DS to anybody. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
