Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

Thanks a lot guys for the positive comments Thumbs Up she does get a lot of looks and even a few thumps up from passers by when stuck in traffic Very Happy I'm certainly not new to the LR brand but I wanted something a bit different. I was orginally waiting for the Freelander 3 to come out. In summer 2013 some photos of a mule were floating around and I did not like what I had seen. I knew the Freelander 3 would be more aerodynamic but not to what extent. As we all now know it was the DS which we had spotted.

Anyway I placed an order for a new Freelander 2 Dynamic and it arrived on the 1st March 2014. I had no issues buying a brand new model towards the end of its life cycle as I had some big plans for it.

My car was different from the norm even at factory spec

1) The Dynamic looks the part with the bodykit in Fuji White.

2) The ebony/pimento interior is very rare - It's always been reserved for the flagship Range Rover and the Freelander was the first Land Rover model to have pimento interior in 2011 with the Sport LE. It was a poor attempt and only a narrow centre strip was pimento but it still looked nice. When pimento was briefly made available for the Dynamic, Range Rover owners were not happy that JLR's entry model had this option available! You could also get the Defender available in pimento but again its no longer available now. Pimento interior has never till date been offered on the Discovery range.

3) Unique gunmetal grey 19" alloys resereved only for the dynamic. These wheels could not be specc'ed from new on any other model range.

4) The Kahn styling made it uniquely different. The 22" wheels help to fill the arches better and its wider stance on 265 tyres looks good and more importantly elimates the body roll substantially. The quad exit stainless steel exhaust from the DPF back works well with the bodykit.

The most important thing for me was that I did not want to buy a new car and then it went out of date so quckily so to speak. My personal touches hopefully will age her gracefully. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I really love what you've done to the freely and love your bike rack. Is this tow bar mounted?

Thanks Thumbs Up

You are correct it mounts onto the existing towball and is securely locked on. Once the bike rack is removed a 10 second job with a key, then there is no trace that a bike rack was ever fitted to the towball. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Tinted my new centre brake light at the weekend and finally fitted it. Noticed that the garage left out on the o-ring Neutral most likely its still stuck in the old light Rolling Eyes

Looks a lot better blacked out than a clear white light on a white car

Well, I've rubbed my PC screen and they're not going away, so assume it's something in the pic.

These marks here [looks like packing tape/glue residue]

Lr nut, You should pop the extra lip on your spoiler now like the evoke has. Only if you can't think of any other mods to do.

Haha I looked at that today as I thought it may be a discrete mod but the Evoke spoiler has a greater curve so I don't think it would fit!
My Dealer didn't have one on the shelf to try!
Anybody keen over there to see if they can trial fit??
Let me know if it does as I think this would look good!
LRNUT! Give it a go and let me know!! Thumbs Up MY15

I think it's just a reflection of the surroundings on Nut's very shiny Freely, you can see tree branches and the wall of a nearby building, ..just like can be seen in his first photo.

Looking smart as ever, Nut! The tint works very well. Smile

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

Over the weekend I decided to paint my brake calipers as the coating on them had been exposed to the elements over its first winter. After going over them with a wire brush and cleaning them with brake cleaner they did clean up well. The surface rust is very excessive on the suspension arm and the drive shafts. It goes to show that whilst JLR are now more reliable the quality/finish of certain parts well isn't really the best. The older vehicles did have a better finish on certain components such as the shafts. My 11 year old going on 12 year old FL1 has slight spots of rust now on the shafts. My new Dynamic had rusty shafts from new and our new MY14 XS also had rusty shafts. However it's nothing to worry about as my mums sport and our discos are also the same. It's a pity the shafts are not treated.

Calipers painted with two coats of Hammerite Smooth Red. (The excess paint was removed from the pistons)

Got the air compressor out and filled the 265/35R22 tyres to 40 PSI.

Comparison 265/35R22 vs 235/55R19

22's now fitted as the salt has now been washed off the the roads up here
