Derek, has was his real name, used to come shooting with us on my Uncles farm just outside Audley on Saturday and Sunday mornings when myxo was rampant. He said his family were fed up of rabbit stew! So was I.
Saturday afternoons were reserved for his duties as a Special Constable often around the area of Sandbach.
Maybe because I was young; I dunno, but I never heard him swear once while in his company. Neither did I know he was a celebrity until some time after.
He once destroyed my clay model exhibit of Hammy the Hamptser displayed in Audley Civic Office after Derek blew up a tree stump outside the building.
