Facelift Tail Light Plugs / Connectors?

I know a few have retrofitted the newer tail lights to <2011MY cars, most presumably swapping the plugs over.

I wondered if anyone has managed to identify and source the actual plugs required - either the plug from the 'old' tail light or the plug from the 'new' wiring?

Peter (Wytonpjs) got some of both types from Simtek but it seems they were oddments rather than regular stock.

I enquired after both types in early March but Ginny of Simtek advised that they are not currently available but possibly will be in a 'few months'.

I went ahead and cut the plugs off of the old & new lights and simply fitted the old plugs to the new lights. I have left long enough tails on both sets of plugs to change every back to original when the car is traded in.

Hi Le Bouch,
First I assume that you want to fit 2011 facelift rear lights to a pre facelift model.
.
I did mine 18 months ago so I'm working on memory.
.
You can use your original harness. One plastic bulb holder needs another cutout in the later light to allow the bayonet pegs to locate. Then buy your new red rear light bulbs and work out which locator peg on the bulb you need to file off.
.
Job done.
.
Is this one job your Wife hasn't spotted you planning?
.
Kind regards from Fred.

I have changed mine very recently...

The connectors attached to the new lights are a different shape and style to the connectors attached to the old lights and thus won't connect to the car wiring harness.

Additionally two pins on the old light, 1 and 6 i think, are swapped over to 6 and 1 for the new light. Have a look at the diagrams provided on the PowerfulUK site for exact connectors and pinouts.

Ideally I'd like to make up a couple of short adaptor looms which is why I hoped to source the plugs themselves. I don't like cutting plugs off. Stupid, I know.

If I may clarify .....
.
I'm 99% sure that I used my original 2010 rear light looms in place of the 2011 facelift looms by just doing the mechanical fiddles.
.
I didn't do any electric chopping and connectors.
.
Kind regards from Fred.
