You'll understand when I say I don't agree! My car 2003-08 was quite orange -it is a certain kind of Land Rover thing though Smile

Think the Orange is awesome! There are some G4s in Orange near Alcester, Warwickshire. Not sure who they belong to but I think they look Cool . Best colour IMO.

I like the orange on the G4 cars, but on the DS I agree with j77, it's too much. Particularly when combined with the black pack, which makes the whole thing look rather cheap and nasty.

Phoneix Orange is really a nice colour in the flesh. I prefer the coded route as long term wise the plastic trim will start to fade. In a few years times when the DS gets a mini refresh fully coded will no doubt be standard. I have only noticed now that the pedestrian air bag has been done in gloss black and looks good. G4 Land Rovers have always been nice and I do like the orange colour. I don't think I would ever buy an orange Land Rover as it is a bit too loud for me. Colours are like asking to pick between a blonde or a brunette it's always down to personal choice. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

The orange isn't the problem, I speced it on mine but LR insisted it had to come with black roof, WHY? It's the colour coded parts that make it look s**t. To be G4 inspired it needs to have black trim. There is no finer looking LR than a D3 G4 challenge.

I doubt colour coding will appear on the DS, it didn't with the Evoque. I much prefer the original D3 look, black arches. The Fl2 carries of the colour coding but the DS no. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter you have a Fuji white Kahn converted Fl2 with red interior, 22" alloys and a massive spoiler and orange is too loud Laughing Laughing

The more I see the Orange the more I wished I had went with it, but I didn't want the black roof. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Laughing I like the gulf spec look Wink

Coding is a personal taste I disagree about the D3 looked like a hideous van my dad only bought a new one once JLR offered it coded! Freelander 1s looks hideous coded and they suit the black arches.

Why didn't you spec the Orange and have the roof coded ? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I really do not understand why LR have 'thrown out the baby with the bathwater' and done away with the Freelander ! Do they REALLY not know that the most successful (aka profitable) cars IN THE WORLD are also the most iconic cars and are also the cars that have been around the longest - Porsche 911, BMW 3 series, mini, defender etc ! Why why why do these companies let the marketing idiots, desperate to keep their jobs, overrule the engineers / customers / enthusiasts and invent things that they claim the 'market' wants ? Surely a Freelander 3 that was similar in size and incrementally improved on the shortcomings of the FL2 and brought more comfort, practicality and economy etc makes more sense than this hideous and oversized bland ford clone that can't be parked anywhere ! I have an FL1 and an FL2 on my drive and there most certainly will NEVER be a 'Discovery Sport'. I remember speaking to an engineer at Rover in the late 90s who told me that the engineers could not get funding for slight modifications to improve Rovers due to the cost and yet the company was happy to pay for the marketing department to spend a week in a hotel playing pool to dream up new car names - and we all know what happened to Rover.... FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

My old Peugeot 504 was 'track yellow' a sort of a burnt yellow orange colour. I was not so keen on it originally, but it got to like it over time.

Great colour, it didn't show that it was dirty so I didn't have to wash the car. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

In short! LR have fallen behind in the market and are playing catchup!
The market has changed and LR are undergoing a realignment of their brand. The Freelander brand is what we term in the "marketing" business as gone into retirement whilst LR shift their brand offer. Guaranteed the brand "Freelander" will be back, albeit smaller and probably next decade but that's really up to how good LR's planning has been.
China, India and the "SUV" markets are the growth markets whilst D4 shrinking and RRS RR neiche market segments.
Looks at Mazda's SUV lineup, as example only, to give you a indication of what should come. LR seriously needs to increase its model offer and DS is just first and importantly so as the D4 market is shrinking!

Because on a worldwide stage the Freelander would not sell in volume, the Discovery Sport may do, this is the shape and style that other manufacturers have. LR are chasing a new global market to build and sell hundreds and thousands of the new car. They would be wrong in the head to build an FL3 to satisfy a few existing owners, stop and think for a moment why millions of people never bought the FL2? Because they bought something else, that is the target market that LR want.

Interesting comment above about Porsche and LR. I was talking to a Porsche dealer recently who said that as far as Porsche were concerned, even though they are producing new models (like saloons and SUVs) they have keep developing the Porsche 911 as it is iconic to the brand and they couldn't understand why LR was ceasing production of the Defender which has a similar status. It's an issue about heritage. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
