Privicy glass and heated front screen

Hi

Looking at nearly new FL2's in XS spec. Is the option of privacy glass and a heated front screen a dealer fit option or factory fit only? Also do the rear seats fold fully flat or have a slight slope when folded down? Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

Thanks.
I assume the XS has everything the GS model below has, but with additions or upgrades of the GS features?
I have pdf's of the sales brochures off the web but when comparing the used FL2's on LR's site the spec seems to vary a bit across the same model. I assume this is down to some dealers listing more standard features than others, as well as the additional options. I've been looking for a comparison list of standard features between models but so far only found one for the oz market. Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

factory privacy is black glass, dealer fit is film.

factory hides the gold aerial lines in the side window much better, and is not likely to get damaged scratched. it just looks neater in the detail too, look at the rear door glass on two cars comparing film to glass and its obvious.

film isnt terrible at all just not as good . I have film on the RRS and no problems At work

Fully flat.

XS spec seems to change year by year. For instance, my 08 had electric front seats as standard, but 14 they were an optional extra. Heated screen on 14, but I can't remember whether it was standard.

Also worth noting that the spec many dealers list online is complete rubbish. My 2011 GS had all sorts of nice thigs that didn't exist listed on the dealers website (a proper LR dealer). FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Thanks for the replies.

I too have noticed main dealers vary in how precise the listings are. I spotted one on LR's web site which is £4k higher than the dealers own web site. I made contact via email and the price is the higher of the 2. The dealer web site lists another on a £3k discount which is why I asked about the other one for sale. It's currently being used as a demonstrator. That made me hesitant as to me it's a bit like a hire car in the sense it could have had a hard life with peeps wanting to see the performance. Not too sure if an ex demonstrator is a good option. They seem to have a lot more options but it's reliability I want. If I go for a FL2 I will be looking at long term ownership.

I would like an sd4 in loire blue with full leather, preferably in light colour. XS spec is ok but need to make up my own comparison list as it's not too clear between years. Similar spec to FL1 in ES format is ok. Not bothered about toys like blue tooth. It will go off road but nothing mad. Privacy glass and heated screen are items I would like too if possible. There's no sudden rush so I'm watching LR's used list. It's gone up by 100 FL2's in 2-3 weeks so I hope this is the start of the season for peeps chopping them in for an update. Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

Something to note, dealers could order a say GS trim but add electric seats, or a winter pack etc to use as a demonstrator, so the trim/option levels will differ, for example you could order a GS and specify all electric leather seats with armrests etc, just depends on what spec/trim was ordered from the factory.  MY2014 SD4 XS

My 2008 GS has factory roof rails, panoramic roof, privacy glass and front PDC. All extras above standard.

Some options will be factory fit, some will be dealer fit and some will be specified on purchase by the first owner. Also some options are retro fitted further down the line (ive just fitted rear spoiler and colour coded bumpers/trim for example)

IMO your better off creating a wish list of options you want for your needs, and looking online as much possible to tick as many boxes as possible. Generally ignore the model designation or use it just as a guide.

Happy hunting Very Happy

Find out what they mean by ex-demonstrator. Mine came with 5000 miles on the clock, but had been used as the salesperson's company car. Was in immaculate condition, has had no problems since (18 months) and got a very good price as they were clearly keen to get rid of it at 8 months old (four months in the showroom, four months registered on the road)!
Only 2 niggles - it came with out-of-date rubber mats and I've never managed to get any paperwork (manual, service book, warranty book) out of the dealer. These are very minor problems.
A lot of "demonstrators" are used as company cars by the various bigwigs in the dealers. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Looking at the comparison list on LR's used site to compare FL2's... it's become apparent not all 2014 models have electric windows. When looking at the print option the pdf says they do, which is what I would expect. This is the same for a number of features which are standard across all models. The mistakes vary between vehicles/options and don't follow a pattern. Shocked Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer

LR have always produced cars you and I can't buy with regards to extras and model designations, some seem to be made for demonstrators and others for either hire companies or LR loan cars. Basically the model is the basic trim, then anything can be added, but not by private buyers, with a 20 car order LR will build what you want my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
