Anyone any experience of the two year warranty from dealers ? I am tossing a coin, cheaper vehicle from an independent or more costly from a dealer with two year warranty - Any feedback anyone? Thank you

My plan was to ask for the next service to be undertaken which will be the 4 year 60k service & insist on proof of /or fix the leak

A note on the service, I believe they have to service it anyway as part of the warranty offer, look into that as you may be using it as a bargaining tool that they have to do anyway

Difference in mileage is not much really, have a good look at both, look for signs of abuse tyres brakes etc but my money woul be on the dealer car.

I've had an issue with the handle on the tailgate rubbing away the paint on the tailgate. About to go in for a second fix (all under warranty but a bit of a pain) so may be worth checking - or pointing out if it's there so they have to fix it. See here:

I would go for the dealer plus 2 year warranty (make sure it's extended warranty). The FL2 is a great car but complex and expensive when things go wrong. I take the view that if you want peace of mind then it will cost you so I buy from a dealer and get it serviced there too so that there is no argument about responsibility when things go wrong. My last two have had over £3.5k of work done under warranty with no quibble. By comparison my 10 reg FL2 had serious problems after the 3 month warranty from a small garage where I bought it ran out. Independent warranties are OK but tend to be restrictive in terms of what is covered (has the item failed or is it just noisy etc) and who pays for diagnostic work and dismantling etc. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I have just bought a 2011 F2 TD4 XS from Lookers in Chelmsford.
One owner with only 29k on the clock.
I took up the 2 year warranty as well.... which on mine doesn't include servicing. I did note that the warranty also includes 2 no MOT passes which could be worth a mint in future repair costs.
I negotiated with them and got new MOT, a years road tax, 4 new tyres, the rear diff bearing renewed, serviced and 10% off the listed price
To me the 2 year warranty offers a lot more than a local trader and I didn't think I paid over the top @ £18.8k
Main dealer in this instance was excellent.
