Yup, my MY11 GS hasn't had working start stop in a long time. Apparently the battery doesn't hold its charge. No big deal, still gets the cheaper tax Wink

But yes, get a warranty. See my sig for the stuff that's gone wrong. I feel like aj experienced member now that I can warn of faults ;-p

Despite my issues, love the car. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

I've had virtually no issues with two cars so far, but I agree that repairs can be expensive and a warranty is worth having. The LR extended warranty is available, if memory serves me, until 5 years old for full warranty or ten years for the less expensive (limited) version. I intend to purchase the limited version again when mine runs out. On last car it covered replacement horns and steering unit, but not, strangely, aux belt tensioner. It would have covered the things you mention if necessary. The LR warranties can be transferred for a private sale (but not via a dealer). Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
