Replacing Lower Front Bumper Grille

Afternoon all,

Just purchased my first LR FL2 (09 GS) and I would like to replace the lower front bumper grille due to a crack in it. I've found a number replacements on the Bay but cannot seem to find any instructions on how to replace it and not sure if I need to remove the whole bumper to get at it.

Grateful if some one could provide some guidance on how to do this.

Thanks in advance
Dan

There's a grey cover for the towing eye which comes off easily, then above that there's a mesh grille. Assuming we're talking about the latter it will, I'm afraid, be a bumper off job to replace it. Worse, the grille is attached to the bumper via a number of plastic tabs on the bumper which are heat-welded to the grille.

Removing the bumper isn't too hard, and there's a video on youtube showing how to do it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqsKkk-Mg8o).

Main thing to be aware of is that there are a couple of bolts accessed from the wheelarches which you'll need to remove to get the bumper off. The one on the driver's side is a pain to get at, because the washer bottle prevents one from getting a wrench in. I used a socket on two extension bars with a universal joint in the middle, which at least makes it possible.

Good luck!
