If mantec did a looks only snolkel, I would not fit it

No I didn't mean a looks only snorkel, but rather would people fit a proper one just for the looks of it. Sorry the spoiler analogy was a bad one...

It will probably be a month before i have time to fabricate the snorkel plate mock up this end.

Also we need IDL to expand on his thinking that 60mm would cause too much of a restriction. I'll get a colleague to work their own figures.

Does anyone know what the max theoretical air intake volume requirement is for the engine? I've worked my own figures based on the details I have about the engine but I will be honest and say it's not my usual work. I'm morr concerned with engine requirements than flow through a pipe which I am quite happy with

Time to think about air box drain, mine is blanked off
I need to fit one as rain etc will enter the top off the snorkel
Is the standard one truly one way

The F2 standard valve is a rubber disc with a hole in the middle. The disc is fitted from the outside of the box and is held closed by the vacuum caused by the engine/turbo sucking. The F1 valve was a float that when the airbox drain was immersed in water rose and blocked the drain.
The disc is easily lost and some owners don't even know it's gone.

Air box finished

It is as one way as the inlet and outlet valves in an industrial respirator. It is exactly the same technology. When the engine is running and the air box under suction the disc is sucked against the rim. When the airbox is not under suction any fluid in the airbox can push its way past the disc. The disc is not available separately but is just a rubber disc with a hole in the middle. Something like a bicycle inner tube would be an ideal donor.

I have blanked off the the drain completely.
I may fit a manual valve in the future
The white cylinder looking thing in one off the photos is a cap full off ct1 pushed over the out let

Looking at a piece off original ducting against my 76mm pipe I'am using
How small could I have gone ?
