2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Zermatt Silver
High Level Brake Light with water in it, Cured

Being a newbie to the Land Rover world, I'm surprised how cheap genuine spares are.
My new to me FL2 had cracks around the washer jet in the rear light that I didn't pick up on when I collected the car, using the flood washer (it's not a squirter, for sure) it put washer fluid into the light and then dripped inside the car.
I ordered a replacement light and followed the instructions on here, put it all together and tried it out.

It did exactly the same and pumped washer fluid into the light, not a huge amount, but enough Big Cry

On closer inspection of the old cracked light, the hole where the washer jet nozzle pushes through had the remains of a tiny O-ring.

One small O-ring later and the removal of new light again had it working and dribble free.

If your light has what looks like condensation inside it, your O-ring might have failed too, and it's not the foam body seal that needs replacing or the light itself.

Mine must have been cracked by someone having a go at fixing the leaky issue at some time.

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Aintree Green

Good post I've just got mine back having been at the dealers for the same problem having the high level brake light resealed. Only leaks when it rains or being cleaned though. It rained last night and guess what, it leaked in again. So it's going back. I do hope this is not going to be one of them on going sagas. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

When fitting the new light fitting I followed all the advice on here and dribbled silicone liquid along the seal first.
The new seal was twice the width of the old one, so fingers crossed this is going to last a while.

Onto my 3rd high level brake light now !
The second lasted ~ 7 months before it started leaking in again,.... and that is with an attempt to keep water out with Silicon grease. All under warranty, but when that runs out, I guess it's just Silicone grease in larger quantities
