Front Passenger Door Unlocking Issues

Help:

My f/p door will not unlock using the fob or the button inside. The black locking switch will not pop out on its own. When you press unlock it moves a bit but will not move enough. It will open manually from the inside using the handle but that's not much use when you are outside?

Anyone got any ideas, I have seen a lot of threads about locking on Land Rovers in general being rubbish but nothing as specific as this.
All other aspects of locking etc work fine.

Thanks

Ant

Sounds like a failed latch. My rear passenger door exhibited the same behaviour, wouldn't lock but always unlocked with the fob. Latch replaced and all is well.

Search on here for 'door locks'. There is a number of threads on this (seemingly) common problem.

Thanks.

So it looks like I have to replace the whole locking mechanism at about £90? Anyone any idea what LR charge to fix this?

This happened to mine

very common fault
Its caused by an ecu in each door behind the door panel (little black box)
3 screws to remove, unplug, and swap it over
works straight away, no coding required
the ecu controls the electric window and the locking, sometimes one symptom sometimes both
each door has its own ecu
buy a second hand unit off ebay once you have got the part number from the faulty one
front and rear are different part numbers
20 minute easy diy £30 fix
looks like this

ive got a spare one in the garage somewhere for the drivers front door if anyone needs one £25 delivered
pm me - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

If my wife ever sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for it, there will be some bargains out there!

To answer the questions I forgot about. It was £75 from eBay, fitting took about an hour (bit fiddly) and it has been pucker ever since.

This is what then caused my foot well leak (I now know), as when I replaced the door card one of the plastic poppers broke!

**Update

Well last week, after only 9 months it failed again. However the people I bought it off on 'The eBays' have sent a replacement which I haver fitted and it works. Once they have tested the old one they will refund my deposit on the new, so here's hoping.

Why are these parts so crap? Oh and both have been brand new LR parts.
