Guess this is all very telling in some way Whistle

I was in a LR dealers this morning for a service and noticed a couple of 60 reg FL2s on the forecourt - one for £19.95k (didn't see the spec) I was surprised to see cars as old as that (4.5y) on the forecourt. We bought two FL2s from the same dealer about a year ago and I think that the prices for equivalent cars have gone up a couple of £k since then.
Also surprised that their DS was in the back corner of the showroom with a Defender having a more prominent position (someone placed an order for one whilst I was there) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Just a brief update

Loving the DS, no regrets so far. Can't fault the 'old' engine very hushed, only when pushed hard you notice it, just like most diesels, fuel economy returning mid 40s. The new Ingenium engine may be cleaner, thanks to adblue, but I won't be tempted by one anytime soon. Autocar advised against the manual DS, but I find it to be a nice effortless shift

Many comments have been made about the loss of the command driving postion, I can't say its that bad, you still get a good veiw of the road ahead, you can't see all the bonnet but it's livable.

The new Incontrol touch infotainment is pretty good, graphics crisp and the menus very easy to swipe through, the cars climate control is now controlled through this, which takes a bit of getting used to but it's straight forward enough. One thing I noted is all though the sat Nav is an improvement, I still find the graphis a bit grainy and not as sharp as the main menus.

The speed limiter is useful, so to is the women's voice who informs you of the speed limit, a couple of things in the interior that bug me is the ambient lighting which is pretty point less, the sliding cover for the cup holders is shiney black which I think through time may get easily scratched.

Rear legroom is great thanks to the sliding rear seats, personally I don't see the need for them to move forward as although this creates a bigger boot there is a gap between the seats and boot floor, which smaller items just fall into, the boot with the seats back is a fair size anyway. The sloping roofline isn't ideal but most should be able to live with it, me personally I never have enough stuff in the boot for it to cause concern. 3rd row seating, well we all know it's not upto much.

Overall the DS is pretty impressive, a few things I would like to see improved, but I'm happy with it. It's difficult to say that the Fl2 is better than the DS and vice versa as the two are just so different, each have their good and bad points, so I will leave that to the individual I'm not here to convince people either way, you either like it or you don't, each to their own.

I think I've covered the main points but there is just so much tech on the DS that I haven't played with yet, I will comment on things as I find them. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Nice to hear some positive feedback on the DS even though I've canned it, lol Rolling Eyes
As you say it's personal preference, for example I preferred the shinny cover over the storage compartment as compared to my Matt finish on my MY15 FL2 Laughing
As per the Speed Limiter, that's std with MY15 FL2, well in Australia it is, so no real new news there!
Look forward to hearing anything new about DS Thumbs Up

Speed Limiter or Cruise Control, may be wrong but the Freelander didn't have a Speed Limiter, except for your right foot Question p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I think my MY14 has a speed limit audible warning, although haven't investigated it (it comes up as an option in the vehicle setup programme). I'm assuming it warns when you exceed a certain speed, rather than telling you the actual speed limit. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
