On my LRE day the instructor suggested another tip for a fast getaway in a TD4 Auto ........... Gear shift in sports mode, left foot on brake, right foot on accelerator until 2000 rpm (NOT more). As traffic lights change, release foot brake and as the FL2 leaps away, accelerate some more to maintain the dust cloud now enveloping the other car! |

my dads Ford Granada Scorpio had a similar problem with a exploding auto gear box, the garage had never seen anything like it before through normal driving |

Does anybody know in there is a difference in the 0-100kph/0-60 mph time if for example you use an a td4 auto in the sport mode ?

Manuals go pretty well in "normal" mode as the Haldex diff puts 50% to the rear every time to go to a standstill - it backs off once you have got going so I'll try the sand mode and see what difference it makes.
