Smart key not found

Hi, I searched for this but could not find anything.

I was parked at school pick up (amongst many land rovers). The woman next to me locked her disco and my car beeped twice, (the same beep when you try to lock the car with a door open). I though weird so I got out and tried to lock my car with the key but nothing happened, so i tried the ignition and got the message 'smart key not found', (key in my hand next to steering wheel). The car then refused to lock for a few attempts and then it did lock.

Came back to car 15 minutes later and it took 3 button presses to unlock the car, got in, tried to start and got 'smart key not found' again. Got out, took two key presses to lock car, then two presses to open car again but this time it started.

Now when I use the car it takes two key presses to lock and unlock (always needed one press) but no more smart key message on dash.

The car is nearly 1 year old, MY14 that has had various electrical faults from new.
Anyone else had his fault. Any suggestions before I call the dealer (again).

Ta.

Putting light on would be a better way to ensure any volts have dropped off - teh idea of shorting terminals just makes me wince!
