Freelander 2 won't start

Hi there,

2008 freelander 2, petrol model

Wondering if anyone has a clue as to what might be causing this problem.

Car locks and opens, but when I slide the fob key in
I get nothing on the control panel, stereo windows lights etc. are working
but the steering wheel stays locked and when I press start Nothing happens?
Red flashing light continues to flash on control panel (regular speed flashing)

Had raa check it out and they have no idea,

Maybe immobiliser, fob key or control panel itself?

I have no idea,

Hoping to find a quick fix as I'm stuck in a country town and about 300km from the closest landrover people,,

Any help is much appreciated,

Thank you))

Car battery is ok, according RAA.
Everything else electrical is working as per normal.
Not sure of fob key battery, although it still enters
The slot and activates stereo etc.

Are you still stuck? Have you tried the battery reset?

My guess would be a fuse, either instrumentation or ECU. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Yep, still stuck,

RAA checked all the fuses, and no problems there.
I restarted the battery by disconnecting the battery for 30mins,
Still not working, all plugs and cables under passenger floor well
checked, and all ok.

Called two landrover repair shops whom also have no idea,,

Not even sure if a scan tool will work without ignition?

Thanks for all the input.
Any other ideas are much appreciated, as there is no bus from here
For another two days.

Organising to get it towed now,
Spoke to another landrover dealer/garage
and no real idea, said probably need to order
new keys from the UK,
Though I would have thought someone in australia
would stock keys?.

Sure is a big country,

I called rover triumph spares, they sell
and program fob keys for just under $200.
Getting it towed tomorrow morning,
Hopefully it's nothing major, just a key, fingers crossed.

The 'hard reset' is shown in the bottom of this thread. http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic16959.html?highlight=hard+reset
It is more than just disconnecting the battery. It might be a connection issue though, but worth a try.

Tried the hard reset, no results,,
What stumps me is that I drove it,
Parked it overnight and in the morning
It wouldn't start,,,,I can't see how
Something could disconnect while parked,

I don't know anything about Petrol FL2 but worked with Ford for 25 years till retiring.
All Ford Petrol cars had an inertia switch which killed all electrics in event of an accident. They occasionally activated by "accident" excuse the pun. Speed bumps etc, Easily reset.
Worth checking handbook to see if one fitted. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.
