Running on new veg oil

I have some 3 litre brand new bottles of sunflower oil left over from running my previous vehicle on, I am thinking of using a very small quantity in the freelander to use them up, I'm thinking of sticking one 3 litre bottle in per full tank full so around 5%??

Anybody on here run a little new veg oil?? I know it's probābly not wise in larger quantities due to the more delicate fuel pumps etc but a little can't do any harm.....(hopefully!!) Black FL2

Best use it to fry chips or stick in old diesel VW,definitely not worth risking in a modern diesel. Smile

Veg oil is too viscous for newer engines. I used to make 'bio-desiel' and ran my older VW on it but would not use it or non-converted veg oil in my FL2. I would have thought it ok for an old landy as the old mercs run great on it. I would be concerned even with small amounts of veg oil.

Why would you want to do it Confused

Vegetable oil might be slippery but has no lubricating qualities and is high in moisture content.

OK, but why still goes unanswered, why not take it down the local tip and dispose of it.

Fair enough, if you are really that hard up to increase the fuel tank volume, I'll donate you a few quid Rolling Eyes

Seriously though, I wouldn't use it unless you can afford to rebuild your car if it was to break, that's the bottom line.
