Battery Discharge and fault messages

Having fitted the earth strap mod 4 months back and new battery i have had a good 4 months of no issues.
sadly the HDC error returned last weekend along with reduced engine performance. I piggy backed a battery yesterday and it started with having started it 5 mins before and low and behold no HDC error but still reduced engine.
I am going to replace the fuel pump relay and make sure auto lights are in the off position also been looking at the newer AGM battery as a replacement Which maybe a bit more robust. There seems to be constant voltage discharge beyond just alarm going on which gets worse as the car ages. Also considering changing the factorý battery earth terminal strap. Getting dealer to look at the reduced engine performance and check the alternator is charging and see if i can sort the discharge issue Big Cry

I'm not sure that the AGM batteries are interchangeable with lead/acid batteries. The least you'll have to do is get the ecm updated.

Fortunatly mine is pre stop/start model so don,t have to ECU with a battery change. I Know this is treating the simpton and not the cure but that battery may be permanent damaged if it is not holding charge. The other problem i have is short 6 mile trips to station 5 days week so its only the weekend when it gets long trips.

Mine stands around all week except for the weekly shop, a journey of about 3 miles each way. Gets used on the weekend much more. The original battery was changed 2 years ago due to HDC not available etc and just failing to start when needed and haven't had the problem since. I did fit a second earth strap last year and it seems to have helped.

BossBob thanks and very interesting and just shows that i do have a battery discharge problem, now to find the cause. Interesting that i have owned this car from 2007 and its only in the last year that these problems have hit so it is some component wearing out.

Reduced engine performance Fault Now Cleared

Would you believe it fault message has cleared and everything working almost like the battery has picked some charge from a few extra trips just done?
