I havent noticed it on mine either, are there not baffle plates in the tank to stop it moving about, could be them that has come loose and causing the knocking. just a thought? Freelander 2 TD4 GS 2011 Manual Satorini Black (Current)

I am only going on what I have seen on fuel tankers and the like, the plates are to give structure to the tank inside and on tankers stabalise the fuel so that when cornering it does not cause a sudden surge to the front of the vehicle. If you have a whining from the rear it could be the differential, check the oil levels could be running dry. Freelander 2 TD4 GS 2011 Manual Satorini Black (Current)

This is something I have seen complained about on the RR Sport forum, apparently there is a Service Bulletin to put some 'foam baffles' in the tank, but only if the customer complains.

wouldn't everyone have the same noise given the tanks are the same? retro fit baffles would obviously fix if this is the problem if it is the case but I'm not sure that it is that. Don't seem to be many reports of it and one might expect it to be more common if it was down to that. Not saying it doesn't happen, just surprising. Similarly why do most cars not suffer from the same? |

If the tank is full, I have heard this 'slapping' noise, |

What MY car is the OP? Is it newer than mine? Doesn't show on mobile web version thay I'm running. Wondering if they have changed the design a bit or maybe you can hear it better for some reason.

If it is only when it's full of fuel it cannot be baffle related, the baffles only stop the movement when it partly empty, if it is full it cannot move, nowhere to move to
