Can you tell us more about your car?
Model and year, has it been face lifted etc these are factors that may explain a few things.

Welcome to Freel2 also, you'll get plenty of answers and help Thumbs Up

Not 100% but I think at least side lights have to be on for them to work.

you say its an 08 GS model but possibly with a facelift ??

If your grill is partway down the front bumper/light surrounds then its the pre-facelift and if the grill is higher up and meets the bonnet line then its the facelift. Also if your fog light surrounds are round its the pre facelift, squarer surround is post facelift.

If a previous owner has swapped out the front bumper for a newer (2011 spec) bumber have they actually connected the fogs ?

That was my first thought, facelift the car and not connect the lights back up, the lights will come out through the front of the bumper, fairly easy and will prove if they are connected.

Sorry for being ignorant but how can i tell? all i know is that the unit was connected whilst removing the light and the fog lamp indicator light comes on in the dash. The bulb has been changed along with the fuse!

I would have thought that if the switch were disconnected he would not get the green fog lamp light on the dashboard.

If they are connected physically then it will be fuse or relay however I still struggle to wire a plug so someone with more auto electrics knowledge will know more.

yes, quite right, the switch is working if he gets the dash

"The front fog lamp indicator is illuminated on receipt of a medium speed CAN bus signal from the CJB. The indicator is
illuminated in a green color if the vehicle is in power mode 6 and front fog lamp operation has been requested."

I'll get my coat Whistle
