Australia 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Aintree Green
HomeLink / Garage Door Opener

Does anyone have this feature fitted to their vehicle? Can i retro fit this to my MY15 model by ordering new mirror?
I don't think this feature was ever available in Australia.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

I have asked this question before, but got no answer. Homelink, as it's called over here is, as far as I know, built into the mirror housing, so theoretically should be just a straight swap. However, I believe someone else on here was told by a Dealer that it couldn't be retrofitted. Keep us posted on this one if you get a result. Thumbs Up Foraging near Gaydon....

United States 2011 LR2 i6 HSE Lux Auto Fuji White

My LR2 came with this feature and I was able to program it to open and close my garage door.
It won't work without the ignition on; the engine doesn't have to run but the ignition must be on.
It must be wired into the electrical somehow, possibly through the heated screen or a separate circuit.

Mine has it but I've never bothered to use it (garage full of crap - can't get car in). Afraid I don't know if it can be retrofitted - but why bother when you can just carry the remote in the centre console tray? Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I was told by a dealer that it can not be retrofitted as the necessary parts are not fitted (additional to the mirror itself) unless originally specified.

I don't think that it true SimonB. Someone on here has already done it and it's just plug and play. But you may want to check as this was for a MY13 or above ie facelift.

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

Been having a nosey at my rear view mirror today and I do not appear to have any additional wiring/plug for homelink. Can somebody else take a look and see if they have any different from myself...

The homelink is part of the mirror as such the wiring is already in the plug that the mirror uses. So you won't see extra wiring.
A Mirror with homelink should just plug in as normal. The biggest challenge is getting a mirror which operates on the correct frequencies as most the ones I've seen are from US which used different frequency, just so you are aware. MY15

If the Homelink in the last-run Freelanders is the same as the Jags of that era (and it seems a lot of these parts are) then the module is built into the mirror itself, all self contained no additional wiring, it just needs power to it. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Indeedy I do!
I'd forgot i'd started this thread, infact I'd just plain forgotten. Rolling with laughter
For later models there are two part numbers

LR058508 - Rest of the world (ROW)
LR058507 - US Market

Obviously pick which one is suitable for your origin but don't mix them up as the difference is frequencies.

For earlier models there is LR031759 and LR007418 but I think Cambo will be able to better explain about these.

Also thanks to our resident Jag expert, Cambo, he has informed me that the new XE mirror is the same as the Freelander 2, Part Number T4A2649 and is around 200 pounds, far cheaper than from LR. MY15
