Even better than a Disco Sport?

The Financial Times this morning had a piece about Rolls Royce announcing the development of an SUV. Price undisclosed (if you need to ask you can't afford it) but expected to be £200k + I guess the default off road mode will be "sand" for use in Saudi deserts.

There was also a full page open letter from the Chairman and CEO of RR announcing it.

And the point to this thread. Why just not title it Rolls Royce SUV. At RR prices I excpect it to be better Rolling Eyes 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

There isn't much point to many threads at the moment concerning the Discovery Sport.
A tiny minority of people don't think it is the car for them, many more are jumping on the bandwagon with little or no knowledge about the car.

Until Land Rover completely re-design the Discovery Sport for their needs, we will, unfortunately, have to endure the constant put down of the car in its current form.

Looking forward to your, constructive, input quite soon Jamie Thumbs Up

Shocked Holy moly, that must be a handful, that sort of engine in the new Discovery Sport, badged as the SVR would be a cracking car to ferry people around in, all seven of them Laughing

It goes into build on Friday, I'm hoping first week in March for delivery.

It's getting yawn worthy in my opinion, whilst I will admit to a post saying the DS is not for me, it was in context to the theme and thread title, it's a nice vehicle and great for most.

This site may as well be called "we don't like disco sport.com" if the tedium continues Whistle SD4 HSE Lux

Off Road Rollers

The idea of a Rolls Royce actually being driven off road as opposed to posing on the cornice at Abu Dhabi may seem ludicrous but there is in fact some historical precedent.
Rolls Royce armoured cars served the UK armed forces (RNAS then Army) with some distinction in both world wars and certainly went off road - particularly in Egypt (they got a bit stuck in the Flanders mud).
So perhaps if we get suckered into another little war somewhere and we run short of armoured fighting vehicles we could requisition some of these new Rollers and our boys could fire mortars out of the sunroofs while travelling in style.........

It would make a change from seeing all of those Toyota pickups cruising around loaded with Taliban and machine guns etc. Toyota gets lots of free publicity from TV News showing their Toyota logos at world trouble spots. Perhaps BBC should say "other off road vehicles are available".
