Does anyone know what is meant by "Social Seating"? Is it the natural progression from a mattress in the back of a van?

It appears to be a fold-out seat which allows you to sit on the back of the car, under the tailgate, at events, etc.

Yeah, but if you're daft enough to pay 50 grand for an Evoque, what's another 600!
